New User Training

YOU MUST BE TRAINED AND OBSERVED BY FACILITY STAFF BEFORE GAINING ACCESS TO SPECTROMETERS

In order to gain access to the spectrometers of the facility, you must do the following:

  1. Fill out the registration form and send it or give it to Anthony Condo in B-71.
  2. Visit our online sign-up sheet to schedule your initial training session. Please, make every effort to attend one of the previously scheduled sessions but if you can't find a suitable time slot, contact Tony to make other arrangements.
After your initial training session:
  1. Practice using the spectrometer with an experienced member of your group, keeping the checkout requirements in mind. You may want to practice between the hours of 8 AM and 5 PM Monday through Friday, so we can answer any questions you may have.
  2. Once you feel confident in your abilities to operate the instrument (i.e. you can run a proton spectrum in 15 minutes with manual locking, shimming and processing as described in the checkout requiremnts) email us with the time and date of your next practice session and we will make every effort to attend.

If you have any questions about the instruments or just need some advice don't hesitate to ask us. We are here to help you use your instrument time efficiently.
