New User Training

YOU MUST BE TRAINED AND OBSERVED BY FACILITY STAFF BEFORE GAINING ACCESS TO SPECTROMETERS

A VALID CORNELL UNIVERSITY ACCOUNT NUMBER OR PURCHASE ORDER MUST BE ON FILE BEFORE YOU WILL BE GIVEN ACCESS TO THE SPECTROMETERS

In order to gain access to the spectrometers of the facility, you must do the following:

  1. Fill out the registration form and send it or give it to Anthony Condo in B-71.
  2. Visit our online sign-up sheet to schedule your initial training session. Please, make every effort to attend one of the previously scheduled sessions but if you can't find a suitable time slot, contact Tony to make other arrangements.
After your initial training session:
  1. Practice using the spectrometer with an experienced member of your group. They need not be looking over your shoulder each and every time, but they should be easily available to help you if you run into a problem. Also, Ivan or Tony can help you if you run your samples between 8 AM and 5 PM.
  2. Once you are comfortable running the spectrometer on your own, you may use the instruments on evenings and weekends when assistance may be limited. Please be sure to report any problems or concerns promptly by email, or if it is an emergency, do not hesitate to call us.

If you have any questions about the instruments or just need some advice don't hesitate to ask us. We are here to help you use your instrument time efficiently.
