"Inactive" Spectrometer
If the Acquisition Status window (Acqstat) shows Inactive you should
try the following steps to revive the spectrometer
If the spectrometer is Inactive
- wait two minutes.
- note in the logbook what the symptoms are and what you were doing
or trying to do when the problem occured.
If the spectrometer remains
"Inactive" after two minutes
- open the terminal window named "console" by right clicking on the
arrow above "disk/cpu" icon on the Workspace Manager and selecting
console from the list.
- type 'su
acqproc' (without the quotes) in the console window.
- hit return if you are asked for a password
If the response is Starting 'Expproc'
- check the acqstat window, the console should now be "Idle"
- If it is still "Inactive", start over from the beginning.
- If it is "Idle", note in the logbook what you did to fix it and
you are done!
If the response is Killing 'Expproc':
- type su
acqproc hit return if asked for password)
If the
response is Starting 'Expproc':
- check the acqstat window, the console should now be "Idle"
- If it is still "Inactive", start over from the beginning.
- If it is "Idle", note in the logbook what you did to fix it and
you are done!
If the the response is Starting 'Expproc'
Channel 1 on
console already connected to another process
Channel
2 on console already connected to another process
etc...
- type 'su
acqproc' (even if you can't see what you are typing)
- hit return twice
- the stream of error messages should now stop.
- now you will have to reset the console
- On the MERCURY 300:
- open the black glass door on the front of the console (twist the
knob on the right and pull)
- press the big red button.
- On the INOVA i400 and 500:
- Open the left side of the console by pulling on the door.
- About two thirds of the way up on the far left side, set back
from the front of the console you will see a board with a Motorola logo
on the lower handle.
- Press the white button labelled RST on the "motorola" board once.
Back at the computer
- wait until you see
"
100 MBs Full-Duplex Link up" in the window named "console"
- type 'su
acqproc'
- you should see Starting 'Expproc'
- wait until you will see a message declaring that the
Acquisition system is ready at 300 (400,500) MHz.
- start VNMR, the console should now be "Idle"
- If it is still "Inactive", start over from the beginning.
- If it is "Idle", note in the logbook what you did to fix it and
you are done!
